Georgia: In the auditorium named after Jorg Henle (Address: Galaktioni st. N20, “Caucasian House” 1st floor), a documentary film will be presented on June 25, at 18:30.
After the film’s screening, a small discussion will be held with members of different Christian communities.
One of the main goals of the “Caucasian House” for many decades has been to promote peaceful coexistence and cooperation of different cultures in the region and instill religious-ethnic consolation and solidarity.
Almost all cultural-educational and scientific research projects of the organization serve these tasks.
Over the last thirty years, “Caucasian House” has filmed up to twenty documentaries, most of which are dedicated to different people living in the Caucasus, their history, and their culture.
In our video archive, you will find works about the Indigenous Dagestni people, Udiis, deported Meskhas, Malaknis, and other groups.
The ancient tradition of “Caucasian house” continues.
In 2023, Salome Samkharadze, a young specialist in mass communications and media studies, worked as an invited researcher in the organization’s video studio under the auspices of the project “Internet Daily.”
For half a year, he studied Western Christian denominations in Tbilisi. Salome visited Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, and Evangelical churches in Tbilisi and the Episcopal (Anglican) parish in the capital, the “Salvation Army” Georgia division.
During the work, the researcher recorded emergency interviews with Western Christian denomination leaders and parishioners, photographed old and new cult ruins scattered in different parts of Tbilisi, and tried to study the adventure of each denomination’s founding in the Caucasus.
At the beginning of 2024, the process of video-material collected as a result of six months of research began, and after the rescuing and sorting of which, Salome Samkharadze created another documentary, “Caucasian House” “West Christian Confessions of Tbilisi.”
The film presents the history and traditions of six Christian denominations of Western origin in Tbilisi, their modern presence, and their main challenges. The work focuses on the unique Christian experience of Georgian-Western cultural relations.
They invite everyone and say, “Please come and visit us.”
The film was shot with the support of the Caucasian House Project – “Internet Daily” and the European Foundation – “Horizon.”
