A public discussion was held in Dusheti to discuss the development strategy for the 2024-2030 on the development of highland settlements. The meeting participants also discussed the action plan for the next two years from 2024 to 2026 in this direction as well.
It should be specifically mentioned that  based on the priority of approving the strategy in the shortest possible time, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has already started going to the regions and holding consultations with different stakeholders.
Giorgi Dididze  the head of the Department of Regional Development and Mountain Development of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure  presented the strategy. He also apprised the attendees about the planning and measures for implementing the strategy.
During the public consultations they discussed the strategy’s goals, objectives, and activities outlined in the strategy and action plan drafts. However  attention was also focused on the sustainable development of highland settlements, social support of residents, and access to services. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional administration, heads of municipalities  and trustees of villages with high mountain status.
Notably  the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is designated as the coordinating agency of the “Highland Settlements Development Strategy of Georgia 2024-2030.” However  before any plan of  ministry   are approved  a public review and appropriate feedback are mandatory so that public views can be accommodated under the scheme as well.
A computerized presentation was   given to the attendees to deepen their understanding of all aspects of the development strategy.  The attendee of the meeting  shares their views. Most of the people who were present on the occasion supported the ministry’s strategy plan. At the same time, they   urged the authorities concerned to take the necessary steps to generate employment opportunities for the residents of this high settlement.
The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has   taken my initiative in this direction in the past years. The ministry is   trying to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects.
