Dmanisi, Georgia: The mayor of Dmanisi Municipality, Koba Muradashvili, held the final meeting of the year on December 31, 2023, to review the work done by the local government and discuss the plans for the future.
The meeting was attended by the city council chairman, Paata Kuliashvili, deputy mayors, heads of service and A(A)IPs, who shared their reports and feedback on the various projects and initiatives implemented in the municipality.
Muradashvili praised the teamwork and cooperation of the municipal staff and highlighted some of the successes achieved in 2023, such as improving the infrastructure, enhancing social services, promoting cultural heritage, and supporting local businesses.
He also acknowledged the existing problems and challenges, such as the environmental issues, the unemployment rate, and the COVID-19 pandemic, and expressed his commitment to address them in 2024.
At the end of the meeting, Muradashvili thanked everyone for their contribution and dedication and wished them a happy and prosperous new year. He also presented them with certificates of appreciation and gifts.
On the same day, the municipality also launched the first issue of the newspaper “Dmanisi”, published in both Georgian and Azerbaijani languages. The newspaper aims to inform the municipality’s residents about the latest news and events and foster the intercultural dialogue and integration of the diverse ethnic groups living in the area.
The newspaper covers politics, economy, education, health, culture, sports, and entertainment. It will be published once a month and will be distributed free of charge throughout the municipality.
The newspaper is edited by journalists and volunteers from both communities, who hope to create a platform for communication and collaboration among the people of Dmanisi.
The newspaper also welcomes contributions from the readers, who can send their opinions, stories, photos, and suggestions to the email address- dmanisinews@gmail.com.
The mayor of Dmanisi Municipality, Koba Muradashvili, congratulated the newspaper team and expressed his support for the project. He said that the newspaper is a valuable resource for the municipality and a symbol of its diversity and unity.
He also encouraged the residents to read the newspaper and to participate in its development. He said that the newspaper is a way to celebrate the municipality’s achievements and prepare for the challenges ahead.
