On March 1, 2024, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze attended the conference of the Business Association of Georgia. At this conference the prospects of country’s economy and fast-growing sectors were discussed by all the stakeholders as well.
The prime minister while speaking at the conference focused on the crucial and key role of business in economic development. He also spoke about the importance of cooperation between government and business and noted that the economic development of Georgia is on the way to fulfilling main goals, whether it is overcoming poverty or uniting the country.
PM Irakli Kobakhidze further noted that “For the 4th year in a row our country is having rapid economic growth, also keeping the external debt target below, as well as the inflation level – 5% down the current account deficit. Record-high employment rates have been recorded positive dynamics are also there in tourism where we have exceeded pre-pandemic rates by 26% in revenue. Today Georgia enjoys free trade with 45 countries around the world, one-third of the world’s consumer market, and despite many countries’ ratings deteriorating we maintain a sovereign credit rating”.
He also added that the data shows that our country has effective economic policies. We have a liberal economic policy a liberal tax policy that is effective. All of this contributes to the development of the economy and business. One of the main factors of economic growth is naturally the freedom of business.
The PM also spoke about the challenges and the need for close coordination with businesses to overcome them. At the same time he emphasized the fact that there should be coordination between business and government on each challenge so that government decisions are as rational as possible and in line with the interests of business in the interests of economic advancement.
Addressing the participants PM said in a few months we will present to the public a new 4-year plan that will be ambitious and realistic as well.In the end the Georgian Prime Minister again reaffirmed the attending public full readiness for openness and close cooperation with business and business associations.
