Georgia: The Ministry of Culture announced a competition to promote Georgian folklore and folklore concerts in regions. The name of the competition is “Georgian Folklore and Folklore in Regions – Promotion with Tourist Costs”.
The purpose of the competition is to activate cultural life in regions and increase the accessibility of culture; to promote the creative activities of Georgian artists and to provide them with tourism expenses in regions; to promote the organization of Georgian folklore and folklore concerts by musicians-performers and creative groups/ensembles.
A legal person registered in Georgia, a natural person registered in Georgia, or a group of persons has the right to participate in the competition. The contestant can submit only one project.
Competition documentation must be presented in Georgian, and in case of foreign documentation Georgian translation is required. Documents translated into Georgian must be verified according to sanitary rules (except for translations from English, French, German, and Russian).
500 000 GEL has been allocated for the competition. Information about the registered project will be discussed and evaluated by the Competition Commission and approved by the Minister’s order.
In 2023 the budget of the competition was 500 000 GEL. The ministry was given by 50 applicants. 22 projects were financed and 41 concerts were held in villages or villages of different regions of Georgia. 280 artists participated in the events.
The budget of the competition in 2022 was 500 000 GEL. 53 applicants were awarded to the Ministry and financed 11 projects. 32 concerts were held in villages or villages of different regions of Georgia. 192 artists participated in the events.
In 2021 the competition was held with a different title – “Classical Music, Georgian Folklore and Folklore in Regions – Promotion with Tourist Expenses”. The competition budget was 700,000 GEL. 62 applicants gave the ministry.
18 projects were financed and 76 concerts were held in villages or villages of different regions of Georgia, as well as in refugee settlements and near the dividing line. 233 artists participated in the events.
Applications will be accepted from March 19, 2024, to March 28, 2024, at noon at the Ministry, address: Tbilisi, Sanapiro Street. N4, printable, or via official email of the Ministry – info@culture.gov ge, as an electronic document that will be signed, stamped (if a ring exists), and scanned by the authority.
