Tianeti Municipality, Georgia: The preparatory studies for developing the spatial planning plan for the villages of Chekuraantgori, Simoniantkhevi, Khevsurtsofeli, Ghuleli, Nakalakari, Daba Sioni administrative unit, and their surrounding areas of Tianeti municipality have been completed.
Within the framework of multidisciplinary studies, experts from different fields examined the physical and legal environment and assessed the planned unit’s territory.
Geographic location, relief, current geological and hydrogeological conditions, ecological conditions, natural and technological danger areas, and climate and climate change forecast data were studied in particular.
The location of existing cultural heritage monuments and their individual protection zones has been clarified. Highway networks, water facilities protection lanes, and different types of sanitary protection zones were established in the area.
Social, transport, and engineering infrastructure objects and networks and cadastral data of territories, land ownership, land cover, and land use were studied. According to the current data, spatial categories have been defined.
They evaluated the area’s role and importance in the existing system of settlement. Information on the location and structure of populated points was collected. Demographic data about the number and situation of the population living in the area have been analyzed.
The development potential of territories was evaluated in different fields of economy. The legislative basis on which the project works will be carried out afterwards has been defined.
The received data was reflected textually in the table of indicators matrix and in the reports of field directions and graphically presented on the relevant content maps.
Members of the project team presented the completed work reports to the spatial and urban development agency and local government representatives.
At the next stage, the project team will prepare a vision for the development of the planned area based on existing data and received recommendations.
