Tengiz Nasaridze meets Deputy Secretary of State for EU Policy

Georgia: The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Tengiz Nasaridze, met Balaz Molnar, Deputy Secretary of State for EU Policy, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Tengiz Nasaridze and members of the Hungarian delegation discussed the potential of the EU market, the competitiveness of local food production and the promotion of modern technologies at the official meeting.

Tengiz Nasaridze thanked the Hungarian government for its support on the way to European integration and emphasized that expanding cooperation with Hungary and sharing its experience with Georgia as a candidate country is essential.

“Cooperation between Georgia and Hungary is deepening; in 2022, the Declaration of Strategic Partnership between the countries was signed. It should be noted that, directly from the point of view of agriculture, export-import of agro-food products, and implementation of joint scientific research, we have a very close relationship. Competition in the EU market in agriculture is growing, so it is important for us to share all successful experiences,” said Tengiz Nasaridze, deputy minister of environment and agriculture.

It is noteworthy that the Georgian Ministry of Environment and Agriculture cooperates closely with the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture; in 2023, the two agencies signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote trade in agri-food products.

Balaz Molnar, Deputy Secretary of State for EU Policy, noted, “We support EU enlargement policy and congratulate Georgia on granting candidate status. “Of course, the European market has a number of problems, including finding sources of financing, but it is one of the large and stable markets, and Hungary will help Georgia establish this market.

Members of the Hungarian delegation will visit Georgia for two days. Official meetings with representatives of various state agencies are also planned.
