Georgia: The Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and acting President of the National Bank Natia Turnava met with the International Monetary Fund Deputy Director Bo Li during their visit to the United States.
The sides reviewed the country’s current year and medium-term macroeconomic/fiscal parameters and monetary policy issues.
As noted, amid robust economic growth and tight fiscal policies in the past years, the country’s budgetary parameters have returned to a safe level. Significantly, the Fund’s forecast of the country’s economic growth has corrected its predictions of 5.7%.
The talk touched upon the progress of structural reforms and the importance of supporting the SSF.
The First Deputy Minister of Finance, Giorgi Kakauridze, Deputy Ministers Ekaterine Guntsadze and Mirza Gelashvili attended the meeting.
Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia, and Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of NGB, met Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, within the scope of the U.S. Visit.
Dignitaries reviewed the current and midterm macroeconomic and fiscal parameters and monetary policy aspects at the IMF HQ.
As noted at the meeting, the country’s fiscal parameters returned to a safe level due to high economic growth and tight fiscal policy pursued in recent years. It is important to note that the IMF’s projections of Georgia’s economic growth have been adjusted and are now tilted upwards at around 5.7%.
The discussion also related to the flow of strategic reforms and the significance of the IMF’s support for this end.
