Tianeti, Georgia:Â Due to heavy rainfall, cleaning and restoration work has been done intensively to eliminate problems in Tianeti municipality. At the same time, the calculation of the damage caused by the elements is underway.
Mayor Levan Tsiklauri of Tianeti Municipality, is in the natural zone since morning with representatives of relevant services.
As a result of several days of unrelenting rainfall, the administrative units of Daba Sioni, Daba Tianeti, Ghuleli, Nakalakri, Simoniantkhevi, Zaridzebi, Artni, Akhalsofli and Zhebot have been severely affected. The internal roads, bridges, industrial plots, and agricultural facilities have suffered significant damage.Â
Moreover, the electric transmission lines have been disrupted, leading to a halt in electricity supply to the villages of Bochorma and Betsenzuri. However, we are pleased to inform you that electricity has been restored in the village of Duluzauri.
Mayor Levan Tsiklauri of Tianeti Municipality assures that wherever necessary, our local government will continue to work intensively to promptly resolve the problems caused by the adverse weather conditions.
The Weather Department of Georgia already forecasted that Rain will remain in Georgia from the end of May 6th to the second half of May 7th. In parts of eastern Georgia, snow is possible in some highland regions, especially in Tianeti municipality.
Tianeti Municipality
Tianeti is a townlet in east-central Georgia, in the Caucasus Mountains. Tianeti is the administrative center of the Municipality of Tianeti, which also comprises the town of Sioni and 43 neighboring villages (total area – 907 km2; population – 9,468, 2014 census). It was known as Tionets during the Russian Empire’s rule and was the administrative center of the Tianeti Uyezd of the Tiflis Governorate.
