Culture Ministry announces competition for promotion of theatres

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, headed by Thea Tsulukiani, announces a competition: "Promotion of the theaters operating in the sphere of the Ministry's administration at the cost of the establishment and touristic expenses."

Georgia: The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, headed by Thea Tsulukiani, announces a competition: “Promotion of the theaters operating in the sphere of the Ministry’s administration at the cost of the establishment and touristic expenses.”

The total budget allocated for the competition is 260 000 GEL. The aim of the competition is to promote the popularization, sustainability, and development of the creative process of up to 30 professional theaters in the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.

According to the debut, projects will be accepted for competition to obtain funding for local and domestic tourism expenses. Only new performances in 2022-2024 are being considered to finance domestic tourism expenses. Professional theaters operating in the Ministry’s administration have the right to participate in the competition. 

An individual contestant can submit only one project application, which may contain the cost of more than one performance or more than one tour/tour funding.

Preference may be given to a project that considers the use of innovative approaches/forms when creating a new production, promotes the development/popularization of Georgian drama, or means a tour of two or more administrative/geographical points.

Applications will be accepted from May 10, 2024, to May 20, 2024, 12:00 p.m., at the Ministry, address: Tbilisi, Sanapiro Street. N4, in print or via the Ministry’s official email, info@culture.gov. Ge, as an electronic document.

For information, in 2023, seven theater projects were financed by 252,000 GEL within the competition; in 2022, 11 projects were funded by 2502,000 GEL; and in 2021, the total budget of the competition amounted to 150,000 GEL, and nine projects were financed.
