Mikheil Dundua expresses hopes for  “double-digit” economic growth

Mikheil Dundua, the Deputy economy minister of Georgia, expressed hopes that the country will witness double-digit growth in the current year. He made this assessment after the release of four-month data.

The data indicate a nine-percent average economic growth in the first quarter, whereas 12 percent growth was recorded in April, which shows upward trends.  He further commented that the released data show more growth than expected. He said this number could improve in the near future and take the economy to new heights as well.

The minister added that the expected 6-7 percent is very encouraging, and the economic journey will reach new heights soon.  Since the last ten years the country has made 23 steps towards progress. With these improved numbers  the country’s economy has become seventh in the world, second in Eurasia, and first in Europe. The government is always determined to bring changes in the country to improve the economy in the near future as well.

It is to be specifically mentioned that long-term freedom rating progress since 2012 has referred to Georgia as mostly free, mostly unfree, and unfree for fast economic growth. It is also to be added that the country is among the 45 countries in the world that have been granted the status of the highest category for economic development and growth.

At the same time Georgia has again been awarded the highest status in terms of freedom. Geogria has been ahead of and is placed ahead of many countries like Poland, Hungary, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Turkey, and all EU candidate states while being placed fourth among post-Soviet countries after the Baltic states.

Minister further added that with continued long-term improvement in the freedom rating position over the last decade, Georgia has been ranked at the place six in the world second on the Eurasian continent, and first in Europe.  The improvement stated has been achieved with improvement by 23 steps, from 68th to 45th.
