Education Ministry and Adjara Agricultural Ministry signs MoC

Georgia: In a significant development, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed between the Adjara Agriculture Ministry A/R and the Center for Environmental Information and Education to promote environmental and agrarian education.

During the meeting, which was organized by the Environmental Information and Education Center, key issues of cooperation and experience sharing were discussed, particularly focusing on agricultural and environmental education in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili discussed the importance of the System of Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation (AKIS) and noted that this system will provide agricultural stakeholders access to knowledge and innovation and implement effective coordination mechanisms.

With the signing of the memorandum, the Center for Environmental Information and Education and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara are set to promote environmental and agrarian education. This will be achieved by bolstering vocational skills, vocational training, and extension systems.

The event was attended by Zaza Shavadze, Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, UN Development Program (UNDP) Project Manager Elene Tkhakaia, Director of Environmental Information and Education Center Tamar Aladashvili, Coordinator of the Project “Modernization of Vocational Education System in Agriculture in Georgia VET (Phase 3)” Tamar Sanikidze and guests.

The meeting of the project “Modernization of the Vocational Education System in Georgia’s Agriculture VET (Phase 3), which is being implemented with the funding of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) and the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Within the cooperation framework, the extensionists of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and Guria Region have been trained to extend agriculture and agriculture.
