Georgia: The significant milestone of completing the rehabilitation of the new motorway connecting Gonio and Makho bridges has been achieved. The project, implemented in three phases, has transformed a total of 6 km of motorway, enhancing the local infrastructure.

“Today, we opened the road connecting Makho Bridge and Gonio Bridge. The embankment works were carried out on the right bank of the river Chorokhi. Most importantly, this roadway will relax Freedon Khalvashi Avenue and allow our citizens to move safely and comfortably,” said Tornike Rizhvadze.

He stated, “Along with the construction of this road, many projects are being constructed in Adjara. The construction of the Khulo-Zarzma road is being carried out very actively, and we will finish this year. It is essential for our citizens to have comfortable and safe movement.”

Today, a 2.2 km long section of the motorway was opened to the public, featuring a newly laid asphalt-concrete pavement, various types of road protection rubble, concrete retaining walls, and iron-concrete pipes, all contributing to a safer and more comfortable driving experience.

Important embankment works were also carried out on the right bank of the river Chorokhi. This direction will also include an alternative route, which will help ease traffic on Friedon Khalvashi Street.

Adjara Minister of Finance and Economy Jaba Putkaradze, Mayor of Batumi Archil Chikovani, Head of Ajara Motorway Department Giorgi Tsinaridze, and Mayor of Khelvachauri Zaza Diasamidze got acquainted with the process of completing the rehabilitation of the new road.
