Georgia: The European Union supported the Civil Society Initiative project, which involved the Center for Education Development and Employment (EDEC) and the Regional Hub of Shida Kartli—Community “Biliki,” which organized a regional volunteer forum on April 25, 2024.
The forum was attended by young people (seniors, students), volunteers, teachers, representatives of local non-governmental and community organizations, self-government, media, and different societal groups.
The purpose of the forum was to promote the culture of volunteering among the youth of the Shida Kartli region, promote communication between organizations receiving volunteers and those interested in volunteering, and increase the awareness of regional community organizations in the population, informing the population of the region about their activities, implemented projects and civil society organization Building up confidence in Abby.
Within the forum’s framework, a specially allocated space was organized for an exhibition/presentation of active community associations, civil society organizations, and activities in the Shida Kartli region. Representatives of the organizations offered opportunities for people interested in volunteering to get involved.
At the forum, parallel sessions were held: a panel discussion on the topic “Volunteering and the role of civic activism in strengthening civil society” and a meeting with young people on the topic “Volunteering & civic activism.”
At the end of the event, the winners of the competition, “Creative Ideas for Presenting/solving problems using digital technologies,” were announced.
Shida Kartli youth centers “New Generation” and “Innovator” are collaborating on a YouTube channel and direct communication to discuss solutions to problems and challenges with young people.
The initiative will be supported by the regional hub of “Society Biliki”—Shida Kartli, and the initiatives of the youth of two villages of Skri and Shindisi participating in the competition will be supported by the organization “Caritas of Georgia.”
The event was held within the framework of the “Civil Society Initiative” project financed by the European Union and the Conrad Adenauer Foundation.
