EDEC organizes volunteer camp from June 1-5 in Georgia

A volunteer camp was organized by the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) to promote the idea of volunteering among young people in Georgia in the hotel "Mountain Resort Dawn" on June 1-5, 2024.

Georgia: A volunteer camp was organized by the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC) to promote the idea of volunteering among young people in Georgia in the hotel “Mountain Resort Dawn” on June 1-5, 2024.

The camp brought together 50 young people—18 to 29 years old — from ten regions of Georgia: Adjara, Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti, Guria, Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi Lower Svaneti, Samtskhe Javakheti, Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Lower Kartli, and Kakheti.

The 5-day camp, conducted by invited expert Pavle Tvaliashvili and his team leaders, was packed with interesting sessions related to volunteering, indoor/outdoor games and activities, quizzes, competitions, discussions, and cultural and social events.

Participants of the camp had the opportunity to get acquainted with local and international volunteering opportunities, engage in both theoretical and practical activities, work on the concept of volunteering projects, develop key competencies, present volunteering ideas, learn more about Georgian digital volunteering and e-learning opportunities, work in groups and MSG Come on about various topical issues related to volunteering.

Civil society representatives, writers, and invited speakers visited the camp for five days, with interesting topics and activities: Lika Kiladze (EDEC—Chairman of the Board), Nata Kapatadze (EDec—Web Administrator), Toresa Moss (Writer), Temo Jaliashvili (CSI—Public Relations Manager), and Maia Gogoladze (Guest Speaker).

On June 5, during International Environment Day, camp members planted trees in the hotel yard and decorated a symbolic volunteer activity with the slogan “Plant and care for peace.” At the end of the camp, all participants were given participation certificates and branded gifts.

The camp was organized within the framework of the project “Civil Society Initiative: Sustainable, Open and Accountable Civil Society Organizations for the Development of Georgia” (2021-2025), which was funded by the European Union and Conrad Adenauer Foundation.

The project is implemented by a consortium led by the Conrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) together with the following non-governmental organizations: Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), Civil Society Institute (CSI), Center for Consultation and Training (CTC), Center for Education Development and Employment (EDEC) and Institute of European Policy (IEP).
