Georgia: Giorgi Amilakhvar, the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, opened a conference on “Internationalization of Higher Education in Georgia” organized by San Diego State University.
In his address to the esteemed academic community, the Minister expressed his profound gratitude for their pivotal role in internationalizing higher education in Georgia. He discussed the various implemented and planned projects in this direction, underlining the collective efforts that have led to their success.
In his speech, Giorgi Amilakhvar underscored the importance of the partnership with San Diego State University. He thanked the academic delegation for many years of fruitful cooperation and the implementation of several joint educational projects, highlighting its significant role in internationalizing higher education in Georgia.
During his speech, the Minister highlighted the significant progress of a joint educational project, a testament to the power of international collaboration, and sparked excitement about the future. This project, worth 5 million dollars and lasting for four years, was initiated and supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth.
As part of the project, SDSU Georgia accepted about 90 students to three English-language undergraduate programs: computer science, computer engineering, and civil engineering.
This is just the beginnig of our journey together, with many more exciting international collaboration opportunities. Thus, the audience felt inspired and excited about the partnership’s potential.
These programs are implemented in partnership with Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University, and the Technical University of Georgia.
The conference was attended by Nodar Papukashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Provost of San Diego State University and First Vice President William Tong, Vice President of Research and Innovation of San Diego State University Hala Madanat, Dean of the School of Sciences of San Diego State University Jeffrey Roberts, State of Tbilisi, State of Ilia and Technical Universities of Georgia Rectors and representatives of the academic sphere.
