Education Minister Giorgi Amilakhvari is on working visit to London

Georgia: Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Giorgi Amilakhvari, who is on a working visit to London, held a working meeting with the Director of the United Kingdom Universities UK International (UUKI), Jamie Erowsmith, within the framework of the World Education Forum. 

Universities UK International brings together all UK universities and represents them internationally.

The meeting touched upon the results of the in-depth research report on transnational education conducted by Times Higher Education in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth and the British Council. According to the minister, the survey results are optimistic, providing the most incredible opportunity to attract British universities to Georgia.

At the meeting, it was noted that Georgia has the potential to become a regional hub of education, and it is essential to implement various projects in this direction. Among them, the meeting participants emphasized the importance of implementing study visits to British universities in Georgia.

The British side expressed its readiness to implement the visit, which will help to study Georgia’s potential, bring Georgian and British universities closer, and integrate British education with the Georgian system through the implementation of joint educational programs.

At the meeting, the parties also discussed issues of promoting cooperation between Georgian and British higher educational institutions. The conversation touched upon the prospects of Georgian-British transnational education development and the partnership’s specific action plans in this direction.

The meeting with the Director of the United Kingdom Universities – Universities UK International (UUKI) was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Nodar Papukashvili, and the Ambassador of Georgia to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Sofio Katsarava.

It is noteworthy that Universities UK International unites and represents all British universities on international platforms. UUKI’s primary mission is to promote the internationalization of the UK’s higher education sector and represent the sector on global platforms.
