Georgia: US Agency launches USAID Educating the Future Program

Georgia: The US Agency for International Development, USAID launched the USAID Educating the Future Program. The US Government funds the Program to strengthen the country's education sector, increase education quality, and bring school equality.

Georgia: The US Agency for International Development, USAID launched the USAID Educating the Future Program. The US Government funds the Program to strengthen the country’s education sector, increase education quality, and bring school equality.

It was launched in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Arizona State University (ASU), the University of Georgia (UG), and One World Network of Schools (OWNOS).

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, opened the launch event.

During the opening address, he spoke about the partnership with USAID in implementing various projects.

He said, “USAID is and remains a reliable partner of Georgia. All the projects we are implementing with our strategic partner in the education system are significant. One of the main directions of our ministry is the general education reform. Therefore, today’s project, which is launched together with USAID, is important and responds to the reforms, the steps to be taken by the ministry in the nearest future.”

At the launch event, Ambassador Erin Elizabeth McKee, Assistant Administrator USAID Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, said that, “I am here with members of parliament, government, teachers, school administrators and civil society to launch a new USAID partnership with Georgia to strengthen its education system. The US government supports Georgia’s education as part of our partnership over 30 years to advance Georgia’s prosperity, stability and democracy.”

The Associate Dean of Global Engagement and professor of MLF Teachers College at Arizona State University, ‘Iveta Silova’ welcomed the guests. She focused on the collaboration between Arizona State University and Georgian universities.

About The USAID Educating the Future Program

The USAID Educating the Future Program is a 5-year program focusing on strengthening the quality of pre-service teacher education programs. It also focuses on building the capacity of school administrators as instructional leaders and supporting the implementation of school autonomy policies.
