KYIV: The billionaire Elon Musk, on Monday had tweeted his plans to end Russia‘s invasion in Ukraine. However, this wasn’t so warmly welcomed by the Ukrainian citizens and their leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy.Â
Musk, the world’s richest person, had proposed U.N. supervised elections in the four regions that were annexed by Moscow last week, following what it called ‘referendums’. However, Kyiv and the Western Government have condemned the votes, calling it illegal and coercive.
Musk , in his tweet, wrote, “Russia leaves if that is will of the people,” He further went on to say that Crimea, the region which Russia had seized in 2014, should be formally recognized as Russian territory, further asking the Twitter users to vote yes or no on his plan.
To which the Ukrainian President, who didn’t take it so well, responded by saying –Â “Dear @elonmusk , when someone tries to steal the wheels of your Tesla, it doesn’t make them the legal owner of the car or of the wheels. Even though they claim both voted in favour of it. Just saying.“
However, Musk went on with another tweet asking the Donbas and Crimean citizens to decide whether they are a part of Russia or Ukraine. His tweet read as: “Let’s try this then: the will of the people who live in the Donbas & Crimea should decide whether they’re part of Russia or Ukraine.”
He said he didn’t care if his proposal was unpopular, stating that he actually cared “that millions of people may die unnecessarily for an essentially identical outcome.”
“Russia’s population is three times more than that of Ukraine, so it is unlikely for Ukraine to emerge victorious in the war, stated the SpaceX CEO.
