Imereti Region, Georgia: The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songhulashvili was on a working visit to the Imereti region. During his visit, he got acquainted with the ongoing work and had a good talk with the locals. It is noteworthy that he visited the region on June 14, 2025, Friday.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia posted glimpses of his visit on its official Facebook Page. The Ministry also shared some information regarding the Minister’s visit along with its photographs.
During his talk with the locals, he stated, “I always emphasize that our top priority is direct communication with people involved in agro-production, including beneficiaries of state programs.”
According to him, the company “Agrolane” where they met farmers and entrepreneurs in one of the largest blueberry-producing companies.
He mentioned that the success story of growing blueberry culture in Georgia is an example of how one can make an ambitious plan and get into the top 20 exporting countries in the world market in just a few years.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia also stated that the idea of growing blueberries on this scale in Georgia seemed incredible. With the active promotion of the state, which means supporting access to finance, knowledge, technology, and markets, today blueberry orchards are planted on more than 2,700 hectares in Georgia.
“At the meeting with manufacturers, we heard information about needs and challenges. On our part, we confirmed that the support of the state continues,” David Songulashvili added.
Within the framework of his visit to the Imereti region, the Minister met with the employees of regional services of the Ministry’s agencies under the Ministry of Food Safety, Environmental Supervision, Forest, Laboratory, and Protected Areas and received information on current issues.
At the meeting with these departments, David Songhulashvili highlighted the importance of boosting their powers because according to him only by strengthening the capabilities of their agencies, including regional service – professional staff, appropriate infrastructure, and equipment, is it possible to implement the agriculture and environmental protection policy in this country.
