Georgia:Â The Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia’s Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture has closely cooperated with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia for years.Â
Within the framework of the cooperation, with the support of the Ministry and the active involvement of school pupils and teachers, many eco-educational activities or projects were implemented. These are important for environmental education and awareness of all generations and for forming a responsible attitude towards the natural environment.
The SPP Protected Areas Agency implements the management of Georgian Protected Areas throughout the country. As of 2024, Georgia’s protected areas total 912,908, which is about 13% of our country’s area. The agency has under 100 protected areas, represented in almost every region, and managed by 24 territorial administrations on site.Â
The main goals of protected areas are to protect and preserve the country’s natural heritage and sustainable use of natural resources, raise environmental awareness anxiety, develop ecotourism, and popularize protected areas both nationally and internationally.
To inform everyone they inform everyone about the activities planned by the Agency of Protected Areas and Territorial Administrations so that interested persons can receive information in time and engage in environmental activities.
Currently, the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia’s Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture’s SP Protected Areas Agency has planned an event for the whole of Georgia. Y. According to the Green Calendar, environmental days and weeks are celebrated, including National Parks Week – April 19-26, International Biodiversity Day – May 22, International Environment Day – June 5, World Cleanup Week – September 19-20, International Black Sea Day – October 31, and other environmental days.Â
Educational institutions (schools, universities, colleges and others) in Tbilisi and the regions have the opportunity to participate in the activities planned within the framework of the environmental days/week celebration.
