Georgia: The employees of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, in their unwavering commitment to the fight against illegal forest use, have detected three illegal saws in Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kakheti, and Imereti.
In Borjomi Municipality Village Cathedral, a citizen was found to have installed an unregistered tape-type saw in the basement of a residential house, an act that is clearly illegal. The saw was placed on the territory of Saamkro, a firewood type, and 12 units of round wood (seal), which is a significant amount, were illegally obtained.
In the Sabue of Kvarli municipality village, a citizen set up an unregistered ribbon-type saw in a mine house. Various types of primary recycling products, 5,6 cubic meters (Fitsari), were removed from the territory.
In the village of Khreiti of Chiaturi municipality, the citizen had installed an unregistered tape-type saw in the state forest. 3.5 cubic meters of primary recycling product (Fitzari) and ten units of unmarked round wood (Mori) were found in the area.
Due to the comprehensive nature of the investigation and the presence of signs of criminal offenses in all three cases, materials were sent to the appropriate authorities for further response.
Continuing our commitment to the fight against poaching, the Employees of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, also revealed the fact of illegal fishing in Lower Kartl.
In the municipality of Marneuli, near the village Tekali, on the river Debeda, citizens were fishing illegally from an inflatable boat, using a forbidden means – an electric shock device, which is known to cause significant harm to the aquatic ecosystem. Violators had illegally obtained 1.5 kg of fish of different types.
Because the facts contained signs of criminal offenses, materials were sent to the appropriate authorities for further response.
