In the 1970s and 80s of the 20th century, the question of arousing genuine interest in the national musical culture for the next generation was raised. Later in 1976, the idea to create a boys’ team was introduced  and for this purpose  prominent players Ramin Mikaberidze and the now retired Kote Mkhvidaldze were invited.

It is worth noting that in 2022, on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, the “Martve” ensemble was granted the status of an independent legal entity under public law and was established as the Georgian Folk Song Ensemble.

Ensemble “Martve” has been awarded many state awards and international festivals and has also won many international competitions. A musical film”Singing Martve,” was made about the ensemble and  book was published in connection with it.
