Nino Thandilashvili attends  a joint session in Kolkheti National Park

Nino Thandilashvili, the Georgian deputy minister of environment protection and agriculture, attends the joint session alongwith representatives from the European Integration and Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committees of the Parliament of Georgia.

Nino Thandilashvili, the Georgian deputy minister of environment protection and agriculture, attends the joint session. This was held with the participation of representatives from the European Integration and Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committees of the Parliament of Georgia.  The  meeting was held in Kolkheti National Park.

It is important to note that in connection with the 10th anniversary of the Georgia-EU Association Agreement, the committees   within the framework of external sessions  heard reports on the results of the obligations stipulated in the agreement and also reviewed the progress.

It is to be specifically mentioned that at the meeting  the participants also discussed the results of the 2014-2024 years. They also discussed the obligations fulfilled under the association agreement in the field of environmental protection.

The Georgian minister  Nino Thandilashvili, stated that ” since the signing of the agreement  ten years have passed  and during this period Georgia has taken important steps to fulfill its obligations under the association agenda in the direction of environmental protection and agriculture. Moreover  out of 27 existing regulations in the direction of environmental protection  the legislation of Georgia is fully aligned with 21 regulations today.”

 

She further added that “ The obligation which has been fulfilled by the Geogian government concerns the improvement of air quality and the expansion of protected areas. The number of protected areas in Georgia has increased to 13% in recent years to protect the country’s natural resources. The state has taken many steps to reduce pollution from the industrial sector. We have a new legislation in the direction of water resources management which will be implemented step by step to ensure sustainable use of water resources throughout the country and proper management of water resources.”

It is worth noting that in terms of climate change Geogria’s policy is fully aligned with the European Union’s policy. On the same occasion  it is planned to familiarize participants with the fieldwork on the Georgian coast of the Black Sea. They will also learn the measures to observe the water monitoring event, visit the new atmospheric air quality monitoring station in the city of Batumi  and learn the working principle of solid particle analyzers in the atmospheric air controller system.
