Georgia: Within the framework of the “Environmental and Agrarian Education in School” program, more than 153 teachers were given certificates and manuals on April 15, 2025, Tuesday.
The process of training primary-level teachers is actively underway in Georgia and over the past three years, more than 7,000 teachers have benefited from the program.
The ‘Environmental and Agrarian Education in School’ Program plays a crucial role in educating environmental awareness and promoting environmental education.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili visited the school and met with teachers of Adjara municipalities schools, who completed the program “Environmental and Agrarian Education in School”.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili emphasized the importance of the project and said that environmental and agrarian education, on the one hand, promotes youth awareness, and on the other hand, motivates young people to acquire professions deficient in agrarian and environmental fields.
The “Environmental and Agrarian Education in School” prepared an auxiliary manual for teachers at the Environmental Information and Education Center. The textbook covers such important issues of environmental and agrarian education which are easily adaptable for primary classes (Grades I-VI) students.
As part of the program, young people acquire basic knowledge on important issues such as sustainable development, biodiversity protection, water protection, air pollution protection, climate change and natural hazard reduction, waste management, land management and desert combating, sustainable agriculture, food security, and quality.
The meeting was attended by Batumi teachers along with various Georgian delegates. They are:
- Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of Adjara Maya Khajishvili,
- Minister of Agriculture Zaza Shavadze,
- Chairman of the Committee on Science, Culture, and Sports Issues of the Higher Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara David Batsikadze,
- Rector of Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University Tite Aroshidze.
