Georgia: The Environmental Information and Education Center organized an information meeting about the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS).
Akis Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) is a mechanism that provides access to knowledge and innovation to the communities interested in agriculture.
Representatives of relevant ministries, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, sectoral associations, and educational and research institutes attended the meeting. They received detailed information about the Georgian agricultural knowledge and innovation system.
Robert Lemans, an expert at the Agricultural School of Applied Sciences, Forestry, and Food Sciences at Bern University, introduced the participants to AKIS on Swiss experience based on international practice and identified the factors for success in this field.

Giorgi Nanobashvili, Head of Economic Development at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and Beka Tagauri, a Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) representative, attended the meeting.
The meeting under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture was held under the framework of the project “Modernization of the Vocational Education System in Georgia’s Agriculture VET (Phase 3), which is funded by the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) and the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The Environmental Information and Education Center actively promotes non-formal education to encourage environmental and agrarian education and raise awareness. Within this framework, it conducts lectures and seminars on various topical issues throughout the year for schoolchildren in Tbilisi and the regions.
