In 2024, the Environmental Information and Education Center organized 91 trainings and lectures/seminars. This year, it continues raising awareness of ecological and agricultural issues.

Georgia: In 2024, the Environmental Information and Education Center organized 91 trainings and lectures/seminars. This year, it continues raising awareness of ecological and agricultural issues.

Informational seminars about the condition of Georgian forests and sustainable management principles were held in public schools of different municipalities. These sessions, designed to empower students with knowledge, provided insights into the qualitative and quantitative indicators of Georgian forests, the biodiversity of forests, the functions and importance of forests, the use of natural resources, as well as the importance of forest protection functions, the rules of forest behavior and the profession of forestry. The impact of these seminars on the students was profound, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for our natural resources.

One of the key trainings held was on climate change disasters. This session equipped young people with knowledge about climate change threats, a code of behavior to follow, and practical recommendations on how to mitigate and adapt to these challenges. This training was a significant step towards building a more climate-resilient future.

At these seminars, led by specialists from the Environmental Information and Education Center, young people were not just passive listeners. They were encouraged to ask questions and actively participate, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience.

91 trainings and lectures/seminars for up to 2000 pupils were held in 2024 by the center:

• Climate change

• Waste management

• Biodiversity around us

• Sustainable development goals

• Radiation – its use and possible dangers

• History of the Earth

• Bees – their role in the environment

• Sustainable forest management and Georgian forests

• History of Earth – from protoplanet to blue planet

• Importance of forest resources and environmental education

The Centre for Environmental Information and Education is a place where all young people, regardless of their background or level of knowledge, are welcomed and valued. It provides an opportunity for them to receive Information on environmental and agricultural topics of interest to them, fostering a sense of inclusivity and empowerment.
