Georgia: Within the framework of the project “Singing Museum,” supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, on August 4, 2024, the first joint concert of the ensemble Didgori and the Royal National Ballet, “Potskhishvilebi,” will be held in the arena of the Ethnographic Museum named after Chitaia.
The ensembles will present Georgian folklore and choreography to the audience. The ensembles had a joint rehearsal and are preparing to meet the audience.
From now on, the project “Singing Museum” will be added to the folk song concerts and lessons, along with the initiative of the Minister of Culture, Thea Tsulukiani. This Georgian dance program will make the open-air Museum even more attractive for Georgian and foreign visitors. The “Singing Museum” was established in 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia and on the initiative of the ensemble “Didgori,” since then, folk singing lessons and folk concerts have been held in the Museum every month.
Gelodi Potskishvili became the founder of the choreographic dynasty of the ensemble “Potskhishvili,” which has more than 60 years of history. Since 1963, during his leadership and even today, the ensemble has conducted concerts worldwide, developing Georgian choreography and serving Georgian culture. “Potskishvili” unites schools – “Potskshishvili Dance Academy” and dance studio “Little Stars”; they are also very successful in schools and teach the art of dance to the next generation. In 2008, based on the idea of Gela Potskishvili and Maya Kiknadze, the “Royal National Ballet of Georgia” was formed, whose director, artistic director, and chief producer is Gela Potshishvili, and the main balletmaster of the ensemble is Maia Kiknidze. Notably, the “Royal National Ballet” successfully participated in the Leville Georgian Festival in 2023 and 2024.
As it is known, on May 19, 2024, at the initiative of the Minister of Culture of Georgia, the self-produced ensemble “Didgor” was granted the status of the Ethnographic Museum named after Giorgi Chitaia. “Didgori” was created in 2004 and debuted in 2006. The ensemble is active in Georgia and abroad. In 2015, for its contribution to the popularization of Georgian songs, in the nomination “New Generation,” the ensemble was awarded the Foundation “Georgian Choir” award and seal. It is meaningful that the ensemble participated in the Georgian Festival of Levili in 2024, which was managed by the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia and with the support of the government of Georgia.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia welcomes the ensembles’ fruitful cooperation and offers an exciting and diverse program for the audience.
