Georgia: The Georgian National Olympic Committee or the European Olympic committees named the Olympic champion Lasha Bekauri the best athlete in the European games.
The 53rd General Assembly of the European(EU) Olympic Committees is taking place in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, during which the Gala Award Ceremony of the European Olympic Committees was held.
This year, for the first time, a prestigious special award named after the former president of the European Olympic Committees, Janesh Kochiančić, was established. This award is a testament to the highest level of achievement in the European Games and is given to the best female and male athletes.
The best male athlete of the Third European Games 2023 was named and the Special Award named after Janesh Kochiancic was given to Olympic Champion, European Champion and Third European Games Team Champion, winner of many international tournaments, and one of the most decorated judoists, Lasha Bekauri. This award was given to the Olympic champion by Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee and Spiro Capralos, President of the European Olympic Committees.
The European Games, which is the continent’s premier sporting event, are held once every four years under the auspices of the European Olympic Committees. The games feature a wide range of sports, including athletics, swimming, gymnastics, and more, and attract up to 7000 athletes from across Europe.
The award ceremony was attended by Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, President of the European Olympic Committee Spiros Kapralos, President of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia Leri Khabelov, and other leaders of the European National Olympic Committee.
It is noteworthy and praiseworthy that the honorary award established by the European Olympic Committees was first earned by our honorable Georgian Olympic Champion, Lasha Bekauri.
