While speaking further specifically on the significance of the move Bokuchava added “We are glad to see that with the entry of our new members the front is becoming stronger and stronger with each passing day.”
She also underlined that , As once again another pro-Western European People’s Party member European Georgia and its leader Gigi Tsereteli announced to join the National Movement, this will change the political landscape in coming days before the parliamentary election scheduled to be held in October.
The UNM Chair also spoke about former President Saakashvili who is behind bars. She said that former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili was the “main motivator” of this unity and has been detained behind bars. It is also worth mentioning that the chair of Europan Georgia, August Giga Bokeria decided to announce his party at the beginning of this month. He took this decision following “disagreement and serious controversy concerning the way of conducting primaries” with the other partner parties.
However the former president formed a new party called “Federalists.” He established this party with the partnership of Tamar Chergoleishvili the former leader of the European Georgia. The country is going to elect new members to the parliament. The ruling party is under constant pressure to repeal the controversial foreign agent law.
