European Science Media Hub urges journalists aged 18-30 to attend European Youth Event 2023

Europe:  The European Science-Media Hub (ESMH) has urged young journalists aged between 18-30 to apply to attend the Summer school ‘Storytelling in Science’ from June 6-8 and the European Youth Event 2023(EYE 2023) on June 9 and 10. About 80 applicants from the media fraternity from EU member states will be given the privilege to attend these events.

Europe:  The European Science Media Hub (ESMH) has urged young journalists aged between 18-30 to apply to attend the Summer school ‘Storytelling in Science’ from June 6-8 and the European Youth Event 2023(EYE 2023) on June 9 and 10. About 80 applicants from the media fraternity from EU member states will be given the privilege to attend these events.

Alongside the European Youth Event 2023, the ESMH summer school will be conducting workshops and discussions with the professional and veterans of the journalism field. The young journalists will get the opportunity to interact one on one with Members of the European Parliament and other guests of high recognition. 

The applicants will gain practical experience from the 5-day media workshops, learning in detail about the science journalism and communication. Additionally, the interactions with politicians and professional journalists will enrich them with civil, cultural and technological knowledge.

Notably,the applicants(if selected) will receive a fee to cover the costs of attending the event ( travel and accommodation).

WHO CAN APPLY:

For the citizens to be eligible to apply for the programme, the criteria is as follows:

1: The applicant must be aged between 18-30 years.

2: The applicant must be a citizen of the European Union Member state

3: The applicant must possess fluency in both written as well as spoken English

4: An interest in science communication

5: Experience in Journalism, if any

The European Parliament’s European Science-Media Hub (ESMH) organises regular trainings for journalists on current scientific and technological developments. The ESMH was launched in 2018 to facilitate the exchange of information between researchers, policy-makers and the media.
