Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia has criticised unnecessary interference of European Union’s officials in internal matters of Georgia. Hs termed this trend of interference unfortunate and unacceptable.
He said, Georgia is sovereign and democratic country. A sovereign country is free to take all decision independently without any external pressure. The statement from Georgian Prime Minster came on Thursday.
In this statement Prime Minister Kobakhidze stated, “This is not acceptable at all, moreover the efforts by former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt is very unfortunate to interfere in Georgia’s internal matters.”
Carl Bildt is co-chair of European Council Commission on foreign relations. Prime Minister said his all efforts goes useless as country will not accept any such interference from external region.
It is worth noting that that former prime minister of Sweden has taken to his social media hands and extended his support to protesters. The protesters in Tbilisi organising massive rallies against the ruling party Georgian Dream.
It is also to be added that Georgian Dream has recently decided suspended talks for integration into European Union till 2028. However, the leaders of opposition parties and representatives of many non-governmental and civil society organisation objected to this move of Georgian Dream.
According to opponents this move of Georgian Dream is influenced by Russia. They also decry unnecessary interference of Russia in the internal matter of Georgia.They further alleged that the undue and illegal interference of Russia on foreign policy of Georgia will damage bilateral relation with country of Europe and world in future.
PM while talking to media personals underlined, it is not for only Georgia rather for all independent and sovereign countries of world. The foreign interference cannot be accepted by any democratic and sovereign nation, so Georgia cannot be exception to rule.
He said Carl Bildt cannot dictate us to take any particular decision. Our country will is sovereign and our government will do everything to protect its dignity at any cost. Moreover, Georgian Dream is committed for overall welfare of nation which can be ensured only by taking independent decisions.
