Georgia: The Executive Director of Sakstat, Gogita Todradze, met with members of the Business Association of Georgia on November 13, 2024. At the meeting, the issue of the population and agricultural census for 2024 was discussed.
Gogita Todradze provided detailed information about the 2024 census to the participants. According to him, the 2024 population and agricultural census will begin on November 14 this year and continue until December 19. The description will be held in two phases.
In the first stage, from November 14 to November 23, data will be collected using the self-registration method (CAWI). Self-registration is a method of collecting data when respondents fill out questionnaires electronically, without an interview, through a computer/ tablet/ smartphone using a standard Internet browser.
The use of this method is favorable for respondents who do not want to visit the interviewer’s house and do not have enough time for a face to face interview.
Sakstat has created a special web platform for those who wish to register, which is located on the Sakstat website: https://census2024.geostat.ge/ka.
In the second stage, from November 29 to December 19, Sakstat interviewers will collect the data using a tablet on the principle of Kardakari.
Based on the description’s results, accurate and up-to-date data will be available for the population, its gender-age composition, different demographic and socio-economic characteristics, and the agricultural activity of households at the self-governing units and settlements level.
Sakstat
Sakstat / Geostat provides foundational statistics for free, such as population, GDP, unemployment, etc. However, the agency collects more detailed statistics which are not freely available.
The freely available statistics are sufficiently detailed, and the dataset qualifies as freely available even though not all statistics collected by the agency are free.
