The Ministry of Finance and Economy of Adjara is implementing a large-scale sports infrastructure project in Batumi. The project envisages the construction of an ice palace and a swimming pool in Batumi.
The project is underway at this stage. The company “BWE” has already been identified through a competition, which is working on a design document. The construction process will be resumed this year as well.
More than one million GEL is allocated in the 2022 Adjara AR republican budget for the Ice Palace and Swimming Pool project. The Georgian government will additionally finance the project with 20 million GEL.
The implementation of the project was started by the company “Westinkor Georgia”, but the contract with the company was terminated due to non-fulfilment of obligations.
Moreover, within the framework of the works carried out by the company, a foundation was constructed, an ice structure steel structure, a so-called “capsule”, as well as ventilation and lighting systems, the cost of which was determined by the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau.
Based on this expertise, the cost of the work performed by the company was reimbursed – $ 8,702,614. The completion of the project will be provided by a new company.
With a large-scale project, Batumi will have a new modern standard, an ice palace for 1,500 spectators and a swimming pool for 800 spectators.
