First Vice PM Levan Davitashvili meets Uzbekistan’s Zhamshid Khojaev

The First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia Levan Davitashvili who is part of Georgian delegation to Uzbekistan met vice Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Zhamshid Khojaev.

The leaders from both sides have discussed the issues of strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

This significant bilateral meeting was held in Tashkent within the framework of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed the current and future directions of partnership between Georgia and Uzbekistan. They also discussed important issues that are included in the agenda of the 10th session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation of the two countries.

This also includes the creation of a trade and economic working group and the possibilities of increasing direct flights between both countries.

We attached great importance to increasing the pace of development of cooperation. I am confident that with joint efforts we will actively continue to deepen bilateral relations and will be able to open new opportunities for more effective development of partnership, noted Georgian minister Levan Davitashvili.

As it was noted at the meeting in recent years growing dynamics have been observed between Georgia and Uzbekistan in various sectors of the economy.

According to 2024 data trade turnover between the countries increased by 40%, the number of visitors to Georgia from Uzbekistan increased by 23 percent last years.

Similarly, a significant increase is also recorded in freight transportation, including 442.7 thousand tons of cargo transported between the two countries by road (an increase of 6.1%) and the amount of cargo transported by rail is also increased by 24.7%.

The meeting of the Vice Prime Ministers was attended by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songulashvili, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze and other high-ranking representatives of the Georgian government delegation.

At the end of meeting both sides expressed hopes for better job results.  The PM led delegation is on official visit of Uzbekistan.
