Zhou Qian, Ambassador of China to Georgia, termed the controversy regarding the foreign agent’s law a domestic matter of Georgia. He further said that the sovereignty of every country should be respected.
His comment came today when the country is the facing the large scale protest. He further said that Chinese government would always like to avoid the interference in the internal politics of Georgia.
China’s diplomant further stated that “I cannot make such a specific statement as this would tantamount to the interference in the internal matters of the foreien country as the China never believes in such attitude.”
According to ambassador “We respect the internal politics of all the country across the world, moreover non-interference in the internal matter of Georgia means China respect the sovereinghty of the Georgia very well.”
It is to be specifically mentioned that the Georgian Parliament on Tuesday while ignoring all the protest and opposition adopted the controversial foreign agent law in its third reading.
The adoption of the law by the Georgian Parliamnet was supported by 84 MPs in the 150-member lawmaking body, with 30 voting against. The law make it mandatory for all the non-commerical organisation, civil organisation and media outfits to register themselves as the “Institutue under the foreign influence” if they are receiving more than twenty percent of their funding from the foreign country.
It is to be added that the contrived law drew strong criticism from many countries, including the United States of America. Foreign countries criticized it as a law that would stifle independent media voices.
On the other hand, police and law enforcement agencies have launched a crackdown against the protesters who are holding wide-scale protests before the parliament building. Many journalists were also injured in the ongoing protest by the police and members of the law enforcement agencies as well.
