For the first time, legendary bullet shooter Nino Salukvadze, swordsman Sandro Bazadze, judoist Giorgi Sardalashvili, and swimmer Ana Nizharadze competed.
Nino Salukvadze set a new record – she is the first woman in the world to participate in the tenth Olympics. He participated in the qualifying round of shooting with a pneumatic pistol from 10 meters, scored 562 points, ranked 38th among 45 participants, and finished the competition in this discipline. World champion and judoist Giorgi Sardalashvili was close to winning the Olympic medal; they finished his debut on the Olympic stage by fighting for bronze. For the third place, he gave up the match with Spanish Francisco Garigo and took the fifth place. Georgian athlete participated in the debut Olympics from the eighth final. Sandro Bazadze, a swordsman, competed for the third time in the Olympics. In the eighth final, he faced Egyptian Mohammed Amer. The tense battle ended with the referees’ decision in favor of Egypt, with a score of 15:14. Sandro defeated Mexican Khibran Sias in the 1/16 final, with a score of 15:6.
The junior member of the Georgian Olympic delegation, 15-year-old swimmer Ana Nizharadze, competed in the women’s butterfly in the 100m distance.
