The Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia hosted the 47th meeting of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) Aviation Safety Seminar and the Aviation Safety Forum of the same organization.
The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA) shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on May 11, 2026, Monday. The Agency also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
The ECAC seminar was opened by the head of the agency, Givi Davitashvili, with a welcome speech. The event was attended by representatives of International Aviation Organizations, more than twenty states of the European region, and the United States.
The main issue of the agenda of the meetings held in Georgia was to manage new and developing threats in the field of aviation security.
Participants learned about the experiences of leading states in addressing and preventing modern challenges. Among them, topical issues such as cyber-threats, unauthorized use of drones, combating explosive and improvised explosive devices, and more were discussed. The workshop also focused on the integration of new technologies, various innovative solutions, and AI to enhance security measures.
Gvantsa Kereselidze, head of the Aviation Safety Department of the Civil Aviation Agency, spoke about the mitigating measures implemented to prevent threats and the practice of testing the system in real conditions in Georgia.
The practical solutions discussed in the work sessions will help experts in the sector not only identify and provide response pathways, but also in the early stage of managing and preventing potential incidents.
