Georgia: The Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (GCCA) has signed a conditional liability agreement with Comex International Ltd in the parcel transport sector.
This agreement, designed for the benefit of our valued customers, ensures a higher standard of service and protection of consumer rights.
Under the terms of the agreement, which was signed in a spirit of fairness and cooperation between GCCA and the merchant, the merchant has been tasked with rectifying the alleged violation of the law as per the Agency’s decision:
- Correct the company’s internal policy and comply with law requirements;
- To change and clarify on the website https://camex.ge/?lang=ge information about package unpacking, size reduction rules and conditions;
- Post this information in Georgian language on the website clearly and understandably;
- To inform all users about the implemented changes by sending a short text (telephone) message (SMS);
- To restore the rights of the allegedly violated users who have been harmed due to its trade policy.
The agreement mentioned does not apply to users who have information about the rules and conditions of package unpacking and size reduction before purchasing the package individually, by telephone communication, and/or email. It was delivered through the mail.
According to the GCCA decision and as per the agreement, the trader was given one month to fulfill the obligations to the Agency.
For information: According to the data for the seven months of 2024, 502 applications were submitted regarding the protection of consumer rights. 52 consumer rights violations were confirmed in 114 cases. As a result of failing to fulfill obligations imposed by GCCA, 27 traders were fined a total of 22,312 GEL in 35 cases.

The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency was established in 2014 under the auspices of the European Association Agreement (AA) and plays a vital role in the European integration process. In the past ten years, the Agency has gone through several stages of development. In 2020-2023, competition law was strengthened, and anti-dumping and consumer protection enforcement were added. The development process continues! Internal legal, regulatory, and operational documents are implemented with the assistance of European partners.
