Georgia: The Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (GCCA) celebrated the third International Consumer Protection Week in Georgia from March 10th to March 15th, 2025. The main aim of the event was to improve consumer rights protection mechanisms in Georgia.
The event was organized with shared efforts by the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency, the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia, the National Bank of Georgia, the Communications Commission, the National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission of Georgia, and the National Food Agency.
According to the information shared by GCCA, the official opening of the event took place on March 10th, 2025 at Pullman Hotel in Tbilisi. The event was opened by the Chairman of the Committee of Field Economy and Economic Policy of the Parliament of Georgia, Shota Berekashvili and the Chairman of the Committee on Integration with Europe, Levan Makhashvili.
It should be noted that at the opening event of the week, the six regulatory bodies responsible for consumer rights reviewed the results, challenges, and enforcement mechanisms.
During the week, work-information meetings with customers will be held: March 12 – in Akhalkalaki, March 14 – in Zugdidi and March 15 in Batumi.
The representatives of regulatory bodies, members of parliament, central and regional government are invited to the events planned during the week.
The members of international organizations, the Union of Deaf and the Union of Blind,and representatives of business, academic and non-governmental sectors were also invited.
