Ahead of October, 26 elections for Parliament the Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze revealed the agenda of his party, Georgian Dream.
He presents it at party headquarter in the presence of GD’s Chair and other officials yesterday.
It is to be added that many prominent faces of the party were present on this occasion. However Bidzina Ivanishvili the founder and honorary Chair of the party, and Irakli Garibashvili the party’s chairman were not present during the presentation of the Party agenda.
While speaking about the country’s economic front he said that the party planned to enhance the country’s GDP by 2028. We are sure that the GDP will grow to GEL 130 billion by 2028.
The party also has a strong plan to provide 200,000 new jobs and with multiple reforms planned by GD, Georgia will leave many other European countries behind.As per the Prime Minister for the effective implementation of the GD agenda the focus will be shifted to four main pillars.
These four pillars will include stability, management, ease of business and effective economic policies. While stressing the importance of updated infrastructure, he named many projects which will be implemented if a party comes to power. Some of these projects will include:
- Four-lane highway between Batumi and Tbilisi
- New highway which will bypass the Lagodekhi
- Work will be completed on the highway which connects Georgia with Azerbaijan and Armenia
- Four-lane highway from capital Tbilisi to Rustavi
- At Vaziani a new international airport will be constructed
The PM further outlined that party will focus on agriculture with a spending of GEL 3 billion in the next four years. Similarly the country will be self-sufficient in the energy sector in next five to six years.
On the front of educational upliftment, the PM revealed a proposal to build a new campus of Tbilisi State University. On the other hand amount of GEL 30 million will be spent to boost the country’s arts and sports sector.
The party will also construct a stadium with a capacity of 70,000 people for the Champions League games. Pensions will be increased to 350-450 GEL next year along with the construction of a new hospital to improve health services across the country.
At the same time the PM stated that internal and external security initiatives would be taken. A housing facility for police officials would be created. An army city would also come into existence to accommodate over 1,000 soldiers.
Speaking on external affairs, the PM emphasised that the party will do its best to expedite Georgia’s integration with European Union. The party also advocates for peaceful resolution of conflicts by adopting a pragmatic policy towards Russia.
