In Giuri, specialists from the Geology Department of the National Environment Agency conducted geological planning in 2023-2024. They worked in various regions including Imereti (Kutaisi, Samtredia, Tskaltubo, Terjola, Tkibuli, Zestafoni, Khoni, Vani, and Baghdati), Samegrelo (Poti, Zugdidi, Chkhorotsku, Khobi, Tsalenjikha), Martvili, Senak, Abasha, Racha-Lechkhum-Kvemo Svaneti (Ambrolauri, Tsageri, Lentekhi), and Guria (Lanchkhuti).
Based on the geological studies, 1,200,000 state geological maps, a set of mineral resources and tectonic maps, and a corresponding geological report that includes information on geological conditions within the target area were prepared.
It should be noted that state geological maps have not been made in these areas since the 80s of the last century. In 2014-2023, state geological maps of Kakheti, Lower Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, Racha-Lechkhum-Lower Svaneti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, and Guria parts were prepared.
Geological reporting is the basis for all areas of geology, including studies of natural geological processes, groundwater, beneficial fossils, and other types of geological issues. It is of particular importance for managing geological problems in the country.
Interested persons can get acquainted with the geological report in the archive protected by the National Environment Agency.
