Georgia: Two teachers of the English language at Avtandil Dekanoidze Public School No. 32 in Kutaisi were among the European favourites and received a quality mark.
An international project created by Georgian teachers Rusudan Karkadze and Temur Jvarsheishvili, together with their German, Italian and Spanish counterparts, has won the European Commission’s eTwinning Prize competition.
The main goal of the project “Digital Technologies in Social Groups for Reliable and Secure Communication” was to strengthen students’ control over digital technologies, to become responsible users of the Internet and social media, and to gain a basic knowledge of the dangers posed by the Internet.
Berika Shukakidze, Director of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, handed over certificates to the winners of the eTwinning competition and presented them with digital equipment accessories along with the textbooks published by the centre.
International certificates and gifts were also received by the students involved in the project.
The event, which was held at Kutaisi Avtandil Dekanoidze 32nd Public School, was attended by the head of the eTwinning program in Georgia, teachers, students and representatives of the resource centre.
The National Center for Teacher Professional Development has been implementing the eTwinning program at the initiative of the European Commission since 2013, which gives teachers the opportunity to make friends with foreign colleagues from 44 European countries, implement projects and share experiences.
