Tbilisi: The Georgian Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, took part in the ministerial meeting held in Berlin. The 15th Ministry of Food and Agriculture (GFFA 2023) held in Berlin was dedicated to the measures to ensure food security by the international community. Otar Shamugia, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, attended the ministerial meeting.
 The 15th Ministry of Food and Agriculture was opened by the German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, Jem Osdemir. This conference is one of the best platforms in scale and importance for discussing food security issues. Factors such as the severe negative impacts of climate change and the war-related crisis have made food security an actual global challenge.
 As Otar Shamugia said, in order to meet the challenge, it is important for global agricultural production to be provided with quality irrigation and seed material, appropriate agricultural machinery, modern technologies, farmers and entrepreneurs to have continuous access to modern knowledge and scientific achievements.
“Joint efforts are particularly important. We think it is important to consider international cooperation in the medium and long-term perspective, which I am confident will definitely give us concrete, tangible results,” Otar Shamugia noted.
 The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA 2023) held in Berlin, the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany, which was organized by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agricultural Republic of Germany, was attended by ministers of agriculture and high-level representatives of international organizations.
The main topic of discussion at the Global Food and Agriculture Forum was the transformation of food systems – the world’s response to the multifaceted crisis created by the Ministry’s joint communication.
The ministerial sessions on how to create crisis-sustainable food, climate-friendly food systems and how to enhance global sustainable food systems cooperation and maintain biodiversity were also attended by the Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia.
It is noteworthy that Otar Shamugia, during his working visit to Berlin, attended the opening event of the largest international exhibition of agriculture and horticulture, “Gruene Woche 2023” (Gruene Weche 2023). With the support of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, 16 companies presented their products at the exhibition “Green Week 2023” at the Georgian stand.
