The Georgian Ambassador to the United States, David Zalkaliani and the Counselor of the US Department of State, Derek Chollet held a brief meeting to discuss the priorities of the strategic partnership between both countries and Russia’s ongoing occupation of Georgian territories.
The meeting took place in Washington DC, which also outlined Europe’s perspective and stressed the importance of regional peace and stability. David Zalkaliani expressed that he is grateful to the US Partners for supporting Georgia, European Union and Euro Atlantic aspirations.
Derek Chollet also tweets, “Productive meeting with Ambassador @DZalkaliani today on the eve of the 14th anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Georgia. The US continues to support Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.”
Meanwhile, Zalkaliani expressed his gratitude to American allies for their support of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic objectives and said that the conference had emphasized the “importance” of regional peace and stability.
Earlier on Friday, the Georgian ambassador to the United States had said that the Department of State’s 2022 investment climate statements are obvious and emphasises the remarkable achievements of their country. Which is endorsed by the data collected from many international rated organisations in almost every field of expertise.
The National Bank of Georgia and other Georgian financial institutions were acting in complete accordance with the economic sanctions imposed by the US and others on Russia because it invaded Ukraine, according to the 2022 Investment Climate Statements published by the United States Department of State on Thursday.
Zalkaliani said that expropriation disputes in Georgia are very uncommon, however, under the last government, some cases of property transfers were reported that lacked transparency and were implemented under coercion. The statement highlights the progress made by the government in recent years in terms of business freedom.
