Georgia: The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with Alan Persel, Acting Ambassador of the USA, on Thursday, August 28, 2025. The meeting discussed the priority directions of cooperation between Georgia and the USA.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on Thursday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the discussions held at the meeting, along with its glimpses.
According to the small note shared by the Georgian Ministry of Economy, it should be noted that the meeting focused on the importance of the bilateral strategic partnership. It was noted that the Georgian side is interested in restoring relations with the USA and restoring strategic cooperation.
The minister emphasized the significance of President Trump’s peace initiatives, including the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement, which has created new opportunities for development in the South Caucasus region.
According to him, the achieved result is important for maintaining peace and security in the region, which is a priority of Georgian government policy. At the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of economic cooperation. Among them, in terms of bilateral trade, investment, and transport.
It is worth noting that during the meeting, special attention was paid by both sides to the importance of the development of the middle corridor. He emphasized the importance of developing a stable, safe, and efficient transit route that connects Georgia as a key player in regional transit projects, as well as the middle corridor between Europe and Asia.
There was also a focus on infrastructural projects that the Georgian government is implementing and planning in the middle corridor development and increasing competitiveness.
It was also noted that trade turnover among the countries is growing, which amounted to 1.6 billion US dollars between January and July 2025. Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, attended the meeting.
