The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov, during her official visit to Uzbekistan on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared the glimpses of their meeting on its official Facebook Page. The Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
The Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, noted, “We had a very fruitful meeting with the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan. We discussed the close, friendly partnership relations between the two countries, which we discussed deepening.”
According to the small note shared by the Economy Minister, it should be noted that there is economic cooperation between countries, especially in the fields of transport, logistics, tourism, and investments. They have touched on several potential new projects that can further deepen economic and trade relations.
During his official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development held meetings with the leaders of the Uzbek Government:
- Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov
- Minister of Transport Ilhom Mahkamov
- Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, during the meeting, the talks were about deepening the partnership between the two countries, including trade-economic aspects. Emphasis was placed on priority directions and important transport-infrastructure projects.
Furthermore, as it was noted during the meeting, Georgia and Uzbekistan are stable trading partners, and it is important to fully grasp the potential in terms of trade turnover growth. He said that despite positive trends, it is important to bring the business circles of the two countries together and implement more joint projects.
At the meeting, the issue of holding more trade missions and business forums was raised between Georgia and Uzbekistan.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, the meetings with Uzbekistan’s Ministers of Transport and Investment, Industry and Trade were just as fruitful. The meeting focused on several important issues that will take trade-economic relations between countries to even higher levels – transport and logistics, energy, trade, civil aviation, tourism, information technology, investment, and more.
It was noted that Uzbekistan is interested in increasing investments in the Georgian economy, including in terms of logistics and transport, as well as freight in the Georgian corridor. The sides have emphasized the importance of a joint effort to strengthen the role of the middle corridor.
“Special emphasis was placed by Uzbekistan on the issue of investment growth in Georgia. Also, how we can collaborate even more to deepen and strengthen the role of the Middle Corridor while ensuring our country functions as a transit-logistics hub – to be strengthened even more with major planned and ongoing infrastructural projects, such as the Anaklia Deepwater Port, highway construction, Tbilisi Akha International Airport, – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.
During the visit, Mariam Kvrivishvili visited Tashkent Technopark and got to know its activities.
