An international letter writing competition of the “Universal Postal Union” will be held for public and private school pupils. It will be organized by the Georgian Post, supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia shared the glimpses of the competition on its official Facebook Page on March 25, 2026, Wednesday. The Georgian Education Ministry also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
The competition aims to revive and promote the culture of writing letters, encourage written communication among the younger generation, and emphasize the importance of human interaction in the modern technology era.
This year’s contest theme is: “Write a letter to a friend about why human connection is important in the digital world,” and it is open to 9-15-year-olds.
Within the competition, all participants will be rewarded, and the best three will be selected. The work of the first-place holder will be sent to the “World Postal Union” and will be included in the international competition program.
The International Stage Winners Award Ceremony will be held on October 9, 2026, World Post Day, at the World Postal Union’s Central Office (Bern, Switzerland). Â
The International Postal Union letter writing competition was founded in 1971 at the World Postal Union Tokyo Congress. Every year, worldwide, millions of teenagers take part in the contest, provided by the circumstances that in 192 countries, members of the World Postal Union, the contest is run by national operators.
As a result, the winners announced in the countries, the competition will continue internationally, and the winning country will be announced by the jury of the “World Postal Union”.
