Tbilisi: In September 2022, the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.8% compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 11.5 per cent, stated the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
The agency reported the monthly inflation rate was mainly driven by the changes in the prices for the following categories: Food and Non-alcoholic beverages, which exhibited a price hike of 1.7%, constituting 0.62 percentage points to the overall monthly inflation rate.
The price hike for the following subgroups was recorded as follows- vegetables increased by 7.6 per cent, dairy( milk, cheese, eggs-(4.6%); mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices(2.3%); fruit and grapes(2%)Â
and fish prices rising by 1.4%.
Meanwhile , deflatory prices for some commodities came up ; including sugar,jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery( -1.4%) ; oils and fats(-1.1%).
For the education sector, the prices upsurged by 7.5 per cent contributing 0.32% points to the overall index. The alteration in prices of the following subgroups: secondary education( 11.6% per cent), education(not defined by level)-8.6%; pre-primary and primary education group hiked up by 6.1%.
The health sector reported a declining trend in its prices. The overall prices decreased by 2.0 per cent, reducing 0.18 percentage points from the overall index. Under the group, the following subgroups, namely – medical products, appliances and equipment ( -3.6%).
Transport prices in the country decreased by 1.3 per cent, contributing -0.15 percentage points to the overall index. The subgroups (personal transport equipment), pricing -1.6 per cent.
