Georgia: The Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili, introduced the employees of Irma Chanturia wine laboratory to a new director, Grigol Maisuradze.
The Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia shared the glimpses of the event on its official Facebook Page on January 26, 2026, Monday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its highlights.
The minister wished the new head good luck and noted that his extensive professional experience would contribute significantly to strengthening the laboratory’s institutional capacity.
“Activating wine laboratory activity is a principally important task for the state. More activity and involvement are necessary to achieve the set goals. Grigol Maisuradze is well aware of the needs in this direction, so we decided to entrust him with the leadership of this important organization. “We have big plans for the development of the laboratory, and the mobilization and engagement of each employee is crucial,” David Songulashvili noted.
Grigol Maisuradze thanked the minister for his trust and noted that he will continue to work with the laboratory’s professional team to accomplish the assigned tasks.
The new director of the wine laboratory has many years of experience in both the private and public sectors. Over the past ten years, he has worked in different positions at the National Wine Agency.
The wine laboratory named after Irma Chanturia, who is in the management of the National Wine Agency, was established in 2004 to establish Georgian wine quality systems and promote the private sector transition to European standards.
Laboratory plays an important role in the process of popularizing Georgian wine. Its primary function is laboratory control of wine and grape products, as well as providing technical support to vineyards and winemakers.
The laboratory is equipped with modern materials and a technical base. The research is carried out using both internationally approved and locally approved methodologies, as well as locally approved and documented.
